Whixall Dog Show 2024 Report and Photos
Whixall Companion Dogs Show 2024
On a windy and overcast day Competitors came from far and near to take part in the Annual Whixall Companion Dog Show. This year's judge was Mr Andrew Brace. Mr Brace is a judge of some repute being approved by The Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in more than 90 different breeds across all groups, and judges all Groups as well as Best in Show. His judging has taken him all around the UK and the world, judging some of the most prestigious shows in the world. He is a consultant Editor of Dog World and is the author of several specialist dog books. He regularly gives seminars in the UK and overseas on a variety of canine topics. He was extremely pleased to be asked to judge at Whixall Companion Dog show and thoroughly enjoyed the whole days experience.
The Social Centre Committee would like to give a huge thank you to all who came and took part in the Dog Show, from Competitors and their dogs, Trade Stands and those with a general interest in the event. We are particularly grateful to our fabulous local businesses who sponsored the event. Without their donations for class prizes, winners food prizes and Best in Show Rosettes and winners cards we could not make it the wonderful event that it is. Their generosity and support cannot be overemphasised - without them the show could not be the successful event that it is.
Thanks must also to the Royal Air Force's Red Arrows for their fly-by!!!!!!!!!!
The main winners of the day were:
BEST PEDIGREE IN SHOW: Flame the Akita
BEST HANDLER IN SHOW: Beth Thomas with Maisie, the German Shorthaired Pointer
BEST NOVELTY IN SHOW: Frankie the Siberian Husky (Dog most like its owner)
...but of course everyone on the day was a winner!
Our Judge, Mr Andrew Brace, had this to say about the day " in the pedigree classes the quality was surprisingly high, especially within the puppies. I was particularly impressed with the beautiful Akita puppy who ended up Best Pedigree in Show. Full marks to the owner of the Best Novelty in Show as not only did her Siberian Husky win the AV Working pedigree class, but she really through herself into the spirit of things when it came to the Dog most like its Owner!!"
You will be pleased to know that the event raised a grand sum of £1348.67. As a charity we receive no funding or grants from any local or outside authorities. All the procedures we raise from Committee-run events are solely used for the maintenance and upkeep of Whixall Social Centre - the heart of Whixall.
Thank you all. Hope to see you again.
